St. Arnold Janssen Spirituality Centre

Welcome to the Arnold Janssen Spirituality Centre (AJSC) – Ghana. The AJSC offers you a sacred space of silence and a beautiful ambiance to facilitate an encounter with the Triune God. The chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves on the trees speak to the heart. Read About Us

"May the darkness of sin and the night of unbelief vanish before the light of the Word and the Spirit of grace.
And may the heart of Jesus live in the hearts of all people"

FIRST READING: Hebrews 4:1-5, 11 PSALM: Psalm 78:3-4, 6-8 GOSPEL: Mark 2:1-12

Theme: Help

It is not everyone lying on his bed at sunrise who is lazy. There are some people who simply cannot get up all by themselves. Some need a little push for the engine of their lives to run.
In our Gospel text for today, we are presented with the narrative character of a paralytic who could no longer move by himself. He had to be “towed” to Jesus by four men. It all happened by the western shore of the Sea of Galilee in a place called Capernaum, “the village of consolation.” There in that place of consolation, the paralytic received forgiveness and wholeness. Of particular interest in this reflection is the help offered by the four men to the paralytic. They saw the need and responded.
There are people out there who have come to a standstill in life. They simply cannot move on anymore. Unfortunately, some of us are like vehicles that drive in top speed, unconcerned about other road users who might be in trouble.
It is our vocation to bring to Jesus anyone who is broken and willing to be made whole. Onward we go, let us search the lost, the sick and those in pain and bring them to Jesus.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, as you strengthen me with your grace, may my heart be filled with compassion and my eyes be open to look out for those in need. For the sake of your name I pray. Amen
